Relay for Life Eyes ‘Big Comeback’ in 2021

June 23, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – The 2021 Warren County Relay for Life is making a big comeback after having to restrict most activities last year because of the pandemic.

This year’s event is based on a country-western theme called “Hope Ranch” and of course everything will be based on that idea. Having “hope” is the key word for the relays worldwide as the volunteers work hard to bring hope to cancer patients and their families.

We will be gathering at Betts Field on Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. There will be food trucks, games, live music, raffles and demonstrations throughout the day. It is a day filled with fun, laughter and tears with several teams working together to make this event happen.

As sundown approaches a special highlight of the relay is the Luminaria event. White bags are decorated and dedicated to those who have been affected by cancer in one way or another by a memorial, a tribute to a survivor or caregiver or even a relay volunteer. The bags are then placed all around the walkway and illuminated. It is a beautiful and heartwarming reminder of all those we have lost and those we have helped to save.

The many volunteers that are involved in the Relay for Life spend the entire year working hard and are the heart and soul of the event. They come from all walks of life from the young and old and work together as one big family. It is a way to meet new people, help those in need and support the community.
