October 13, 2020

DUBOIS, Pa. – The Sheffield volleyball team swept its way to its ninth straight win, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-14 at DuBois Central Catholic Tuesday.

The Wolverines (10-1) had to overcome some unforced errors in the first set to hang on for the win. Kassidy Orinko stepped up from the service line to serve seven straight points in the set.

“Service and attack errors plagued us in the first set with six of each,” Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay said. “Kassidy had a huge night from the service line serving seven straight points in the first set and eight in the second.”

Lynzie Grubbs led the Sheffield attack with 10 kills and two blocks. Orinko and Emily Leichtenberger added eight kills each.

“We had a strong night at the net,” Lemay said.

Kadence Steffan ran the offense with 25 assists. Leichtenberger finished with 13 digs.

Sheffield won the junior varsity match 25-10, 20-25 and 15-12.

“They struggled a bit in set two with passing, but they were able to regroup and win the third set,” Lemay said.

Madeline Roell had 16 digs.

Sheffield returns home for a match with A-C Valley Thursday.
