County Hears Pitch to Bring Mobile Radio Maintenance Under One Umbrella

September 26, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County Commissioners are set to act on a proposed agreement with Capital Area Communications that would bring the maintenance of mobile radios within several county departments under one umbrella.

During Monday’s commissioners’ work session, Public Safety Director Ken McCorrison said the proposed agreement would cover radios in the juvenile probation, adult probation, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and Department of Public Safety.

The current warranty period is set to expire on Sept. 30.

“It doesn’t make sense for everyone to negotiate their own contract,” McCorrison said.

The average cost of the mobile radios is $120 per unit, McCorrison said, with portable radios for police cars and fire trucks costing approximately $96.

“We routinely have a couple that are going to be repaired,” McCorrison said.

The agreement is expected to be voted on at Wednesday’s Warren County Commissioners meeting.
