March 12, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – A pair of projects were awarded for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds at the Warren County Commissioners meeting on Wednesday.

The first is for Center St. construction in Bear Lake, which will be done by Lake Shore Paving in Jamestown. The total cost of that project is slated at $214,689.13.

The second project is in Sheffield and will involve the sanitary sewer replacement on Pratt St. in Sheffield, to be done by Mealy Construction out of Tionesta, with total estimated costs at $103, 604.

Also on Wednesday, the commissioners passed a resolution for the creation of a landbank.

The land bank, which is estimated to be created by July of this year, will assist the county’s Redevelopment Authority to fight blight and promote redevelopment in the county.

There will also be an outreach effort to the municipalities in April or May and then a public hearing, which is needed to implement the co-op agreements needed, in June.

The original proposal was drafted by Commissioner Jeff Eggleston.

“I’m excited to see the move forward to help fight blight in Warren County,” said Warren County Tax Claim Deputy Director Phil Gilbert.
