YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Wyatt Shaffer’s 2-run single capped a 4-run eighth inning to lift Saegertown to an 11-8 win over Youngsville in a battle of the top two teams in Region 3 and Class 1A in District 10.
Sully Zirkle also had a sacrifice fly in the inning and the Panthers had another run scored on a wild pitch.
Youngsville scored five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead, but Saegertown scored two runs in the top of the seventh to ultimately send the game to extras.
Wyatt Burchill was 4-for-4 with three runs for Saegertown, while Henry Shaffer was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs, Zirkle drove in five runs and Wyatt Shaffer drove in three runs.
Joe Grundy got the win in relief, allowing four runs (three earned) in 4 ⅓ innings, striking out one and walking three.
Kegan Mesel was 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Youngsville, while Matt DeSimone was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs and NateLucks, David Manning and Ethan Senz had one RBI each.
Lucks took the loss, allowing five runs in two innings.
