Willis ‘Bill’ Phillips

Willis “Bill” M. Phillips, 91, of Russell, PA., passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House.

Willis was born March 1, 1930 in Jamestown, NY., to the late Fred and Mona Singer Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1951. He started his own business as a residential building contractor, was self-employed, and enjoyed his work for over 40 years. He was a long-standing member of the Church of the Nazarene, Warren, PA.

Willis married Marjorie Ramsdell on November 19, 1950, in Russell, PA. Together they raised four children. Willis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His family will fondly remember all his funny jokes, humor, and quick wit. He and Marjorie served with Wycliffe Bible Translators on several missions trips. He loved to study the Bible and teach others its truths. He will also be remembered for his many faithful years as a youth group leader. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Randal Phillips (Rachel) of Warren, PA., Jon Phillips (Wendi) of Elyria, OH., daughters, Brenda Glasby (Pat) of Yorba Linda, CA., and Julie Curtis (Jay) of Sugar Grove, PA., thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie on September 3, 2017, his son-in-law, Pat Glasby, and several brothers and sisters. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.

A private Celebration-of-Life service will be held for the family at a later date.
