William L. “Bill” Nicklas, 85, of Warren, PA, died at his home on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
Born on November 27, 1935 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late William R. and Margarite Zock Nicklas.
Bill was a lifetime resident of the Warren area and was a 1953 graduate of Warren High School. He worked the family farm his whole life and was a truck driver with Refiners Transport. He also transported lumber for the Amish. Bill was a former member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the Warren Eagles, and the Warren Moose. Bill was also a member of ATHS, the American Truck Historical Society. He enjoyed motorcycling, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ann L. Hoffman Nicklas, whom he married on November 24, 1998 in Warren, PA; three children – Jamie Nicklas and his wife, Susan, of Warren, PA, Kevin Nicklas and his wife, Jennifer, of Sugar Grove, PA, and John Nicklas of Warren, PA; 2 step-children – Kevin Kent and wife, Michelle, of Warren, PA, and Sally A. Strand and husband, Scott, of Pittsfield, PA; 5 grandchildren – Ashlyn Auflick, Brittany Bidwell, Josh, Logan Kent, and Brittany Spicer; several great-grandchildren; and one brother – Rodney Nicklas of Warren, PA. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Nicklas, and a granddaughter, Brandie Kent.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East, Warren, PA, on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 11am until 12Noon. Current CDC guidelines of social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed. The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Dale McMillen officiating. Interment will be in Weiler Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers are Kevin Nicklas, Kevin Kent, Scott Strand, Ashlyn Auflick, Rob Auflick, and Owen Auflick. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Brittany Bidwell.
