YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Hundreds of customers are still without power Tuesday morning after a band of heavy, wet snow blanketed Warren County Monday evening and into Tuesday morning.
First Energy (Penelec) reported 1,383 customers were without power as of 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. The bulk of those were in Sugar Grove where 522 outages had been reported. More than 100 outages were reported in Conewango Township, Farmington Township, Mead Township, and Pine Grove Township.
“Severe weather is causing power outages,” First Energy’s website read. “Estimated restoration time will be provided when available.”
Isolated pockets of outages were reported across the county in Brokenstraw Township (9), Freehold Township (50), Glade Township (27), Pittsfield Township (7), Pleasant Township (72), Sheffield Township (53), Warren City (76), and Youngsville Borough (80).
An additional 1,226 customers were without power in McKean County. Other surrounding counties, Forest (0), Elk (fewer than 5), Erie (fewer than 5), Crawford (11), and Venango (45) had limited outage reports.
Warren Electric Cooperative General Manager Matt Franklin said calls started coming in at approximately 9 p.m. Monday night.
“We had over 40 separate outages affecting up to 1,450 members,” Franklin said.
As of 7 a.m., Warren Electric Cooperative said it had reduced its number of outage incidents to 19 and had approximately 480 customers without power. At least one area was likely to be without power for most of the day.
“The one area we know won’t be on until this afternoon is Akeley North (Gouldtown/Howard Rd),” Warren Electric said in a Facebook post. “Lines are down in the swamp and we need to coordinate extra crews and equipment to fix the issues.”
