WARREN, Pa. – Warren General Hospital employees hit the picket line on Friday.

The Warren General Hospital Professional Employees Association was joined by the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP) as well as other supporters.

“We’re here because we care about our community,” said maternity nurse Charlene Fohrd, who is co-president of the association. “We really want safe staffing and we’re also looking for a fair contract. We just thought this was a really good time to bring the two together and talk about.”

The union is currently in negotiations with the hospital.

“Our ultimate goal is to be able to provide the best care to our patients in this community,” Fohrd said.

There were upwards of 50 staff taking part in the picket at the 12 o’clock hour.

“We have had an amazing turnout from the community, other locals, our nurses and it’s very humbling,” Fohrd. “It’s humbling to know that you have this many people by your side and stand with you and everything that you’re doing.”
