WARREN, Pa. – Warren General Hospital announced a “zero visitor” protocol Wednesday, Sept. 8, effective immediately and until further notice.
Though visitors will not be permitted to see most patients, WGH did announce some exceptions to the policy.
“Due to the rising rates of COVID in our local area, Warren General Hospital will allow visitors only under the following circumstances: Patients who require a support person due to a physical or intellectual disability; One parent may accompany a minor child; One support person is permitted with a laboring mother for the duration of her labor; Patients at the end of their life may have visitors,” the hospital said in the announcement.
The new visitation policy is similar to the one the hospital adopted when COVID case counts began rising in November 2020.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard data, there have been 92 COVID cases reported in Warren County through Sept. 7. There were just 58 total COVID cases reported in the county from June 1 – Aug. 15.
As of the Sept. 7 DoH update, there were nine patients hospitalized with COVID in Warren County. That’s a decrease from the 13 hospitalized on Sept. 2. None of the COVID patients were in the ICU or on ventilators, though the dashboard reports one of WGH’s seven available ventilators was in use.
