Welcome Back: Crary Art Gallery Celebrates Re-Opening with Open House Featuring Gene Walker Crary Exhibit

May 10, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19, the Crary Art Gallery in Warren made its triumphant return on Saturday with an open house and a new exhibit featuring the work of Gene Walker Crary.

The first-ever exhibition, which runs through May 29, features newly framed portraits and human finger paintings by the gallery’s co-founder and is the first of a full schedule the Crary has throughout the rest of the calendar year.

Exhibitions planned include the works of Sara Baker Michalak, Metaphysical (June 5-July 3), Wendy and Bill Bale, Riparian Zone Up and Down the River Bank (July 10-Aug. 1), Geroganna Lenssen, Sticky Sweet (Aug. 7-Sept. 4), Ben Gibson, Recent Paintings and Drawings (Oct. 2-31), David Palmer, True Pop Nature, (Nov. 20-Dec. 19), and Lauren Scavo-Fulk, Terrain (Nov. 20-Dec. 19).

The break allowed the Crary to make several renovations, including a reception desk, and formulate a plan to keep both volunteers and visitors safe.

“It will help flow as people will move to the right as they enter,” Paquette said of the reception desk back in November. “It will also allow our proctors to maintain social distance as they greet people.”

That plan held true to form, as visitors moved seamlessly with the new transition on Saturday.

In addition, the gallery also has new hours – Friday (12 p.m.-6 p.m.), Saturday (12-6), and Sunday 12-4.

The Crary Art Gallery is located at 511 Market St. in Warren.
