WCYFL NFL Flag Football: Steelers Win 2OT Thriller Over Seahawks; Packers Hold Off Bears

September 22, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Max Papalia’s touchdown run in the second overtime lifted the Steelers to a 20-14 win over the Seahawks in WCYFL NFL Flag Football League action Tuesday.

The game-winner was Papalia’s second TD of the contest. The first, coupled with a Kinsley Dean 2-point conversion, tied the game at 14-14.

In the first overtime (overtime rules give each team one play from the 5-yard-line), both teams were stopped short of the goalline. The Seahawks got the ball to start the second overtime, but were stopped, leading to Papalia’s game-winner.

Zach Mocny’s TD reception opened the scoring for the Seahawks. Alex Haight added the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

Dean answered with a TD run for the Steelers, but the conversion failed leaving the score 8-6.

Haight put the Seahawks up 14-6 with a TD run. Papalia followed with his first score just before halftime.

PACKERS 18, BEARS 14
Harrison Williams scored all three TDs and the Packers defense came up with a late stop to come away with an 18-14 win over the Bears.

AJ Harris scored twice and Peter Bailey recorded a safety for the Bears.
