WARREN, Pa. – The Warren Hogs have yet to surrender a point in the 2023 season following a 33-0 win over Otto-Eldred.
The Hogs’ defense set the tone on the first play from scrimmage with a fumble recovery. Two plays later, Blake Peterson’s 34-yard touchdown run had the Hogs off and running.
Peterson scored his second touchdown of the game on the Hogs’ second possession, this time on a swing pass from Ty Bryan. Bryan and Peterson connected again on the next possession, this time on a 51-yard strike to put the Hogs ahead 20-0.
Late in the first half, Harrison Horner recovered a fumble inside the Nippers’ 5-yard-line. Bryan ran in the touchdown from eight yards out as the Hogs held a 27-0 halftime lead.
Jaret Lang ended the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard TD run.
Bryan finished the game 3-3 passing for 66 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown, a 1-point conversion and a tackle.
Peterson finished the game with 115 yards on just four touches, with two receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown, and 1 tackle defensively.
Owen Damcott finished the game with 51 rushing yards. Lang had 27 yards rushing with a touchdown and 1 tackle. Landon Lutton added 22 yards rushing and 2 tackles. Luke Baxter finished the game with 9 yards rushing and a 1-point conversion. Shaun Lauderdale added 5 yards on the ground and two tackles. Eli Lutton added 3 yards rushing and Emmett Snyder added a two-yard reception. Lucas Sorensen had a pass deflection. Oliver Drescher added 2 tackles and a tackle for a loss.
The defensive line rotation was dominant, led by two tackles for a loss by Leeland Brown, two tackles for a loss by Brody Connolly, 2 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery by Harrison Horner, and 1 tackle, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery by Johnathan Sullivan. Chance Farnsworth, Eli Dodge, and Isaac Bleech each added a tackle.
The Warren Hogs, sponsored by Dr. Damien Horner, were playing under the lights following their 6th grade recognition ceremony. The Hogs recognized 19 sixth graders in their final season playing in the Warren County Youth Football League.
The Week 1 Offensive Player of the Game and Defensive Player of the Game were Ty Bryan (Offensive Player of the Week) and Owen Damcott (Defensive Player of the Week).
The Week 2 Offensive Player of the Game was Blake Peterson, while the Defensive Player of the Game was Harrison Horner in the dominant 33-0 win.
The Warren Hogs (2-0) travel to Emporium to play Cameron County on Sept. 9. Cameron County (2-0) is coming off a 26-6 win over the Kane Tornadoes.
