Warren Volleyball Starts Season Strong by Winning Fort LeBoeuf Tournament Title

WATERFORD, Pa. – In the season-opening 16-team Fort LeBoeuf Volleyball Tournament, it was the Warren Dragons that came away with the title, beating Maplewood in the championship 2-0, 25-23, 25-19 on Saturday.

Warren went 5-1 in pool play, beating Harbor Creek (25-20), Fairview (25-9) and Chautauqua Lake (25-22) in the first round and defeated Girard (25-14, 25-23) and Maplewood (25-23, 25-19) before splitting with Saegertown (19-25, 25-19).

In the quarterfinals, Warren beat Meadville, Harbor Creek topped Girard, Fort LeBoeuf beat Saegertown and Maplewood beat Sharpsville.

In the semifinals, Warren edged Harbor Creek (19-25, 25-17, 15-13) and Maplewood beat host LeBoeuf.

“It was a great total team effort all day playing some spirited, hard-fought games,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “The team really got after it on defense and stepped up their offense and serving games. Katie Madigan, Halee Mineweaser, Ellee Irwin and Carly Beers stood out all around the court, coupled with terrific front line defense from Kylie Fehlman and Alexia Bowers, along with Summer Lucks in the back row.”

Warren returns to action on Tuesday at Villa.
