Warren Softball Season Ends in D10 Quarterfinals

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A 4-run fifth inning broke the game open as Hickory topped Warren, 11-3, in their District 10 Class 4A quarterfinal.

Hallie Miller started the inning with a triple. Layla McClung walked and Olivia Schneider ripped a 2-run single. Madison Trimboli and Jordan Hanzelka also hit RBI-singles in the inning.

Warren answered with three runs in the sixth thanks to an Alexis Jones RBI-single and a pair of passed balls, but the Hornets responded with three of their own in the home half of the inning to put the game away.

Lydia Hallas had a big hand in the win with a triple, a double, and two runs scored on offense. She also allowed three runs on four hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts in the circle.

Miller finished with three hits, two doubles and a triple, three runs scored, and two RBI. McClung scored three times and drove in a pair.

Alana Stuart took the loss allowing 11 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

Malysia Sorenson tripled and scored a run. Emma Gray scored a run, and Jones scored once and drove in a run.

Hickory will face Meadville in the semifinals on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Allegheny College.
