Warren Players Announce Sweeney Todd Cast

WARREN, Pa. – Warren Players is thrilled to introduce the cast of its 92nd season opener, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, Oct. 6-9 at Struthers Library Theatre.

Director Caitlin Webster and Vocal Director Rachel Harvey recently announced the cast, featuring Warren Players veterans and several performers who are new to the Struthers Library Theatre stage: Angela Abreu, Kelsey Angove, Natalie Baxter, Amanda Beil, Hillary Belin, Colette Bonavita, Allan Branthoover, Lilly Branthoover, Brionna Childs, Troy Dinga, Camden Drayer, Colin Drayer, Elias Eastman, Zach Foster, Sydney Johnson, Marika Koch, Abby Koebley, Drake Lawson, Jessica Long, Catherine Hayes Lyon, Titus Miller, Bethany Pascuzzi, Zachary Robertson, Paula Royo, Andrew Stalder, and Michael Stenberg.

Sweeney Todd, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, premiered in 1979 and has become a bloody, worldwide success since winning eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. This tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat has simultaneously surprised and delighted audiences across the world.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to 19th century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up… and the carnage has only just begun!

Sweeney Todd performances are 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, followed by a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Struthers Library Theatre, 302 W. Third Ave., Warren. Performances are rated PG-13.
