Warren Opens with Sweep Over Titusville

September 1, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – Warren volleyball came out and “took care of business” on its way to a season-opening sweep over visiting Titusville on Thursday.

Outside of the early part of the third set, the Dragons controlled the match on their way to a 25-12, 25-9, and 25-15 win over the Rockets. More importantly for head coach Mike Dolan, Warren didn’t commit many unforced errors.

“That’s kind of been one of our focuses is to stay clean and take care of balls that we need to take care of,” Dolan said. “And I thought that we did a good job of that.”

Warren raced out to 9-2 leads in both the first and second sets and cruised the rest of the way. Titusville kept it close early in the third, trailing just 8-7 at one point. The Dragons slowly pulled away from there, as they built a 22-14 lead before closing out the match.

“They stayed calm, played their game, and took care of business,” Dolan said.

Maddy Jones led the attack with six kills. Alexia Bowers had five kills, while Kylie Fehlman and Carly Beers had four kills each. Lindsay Madigan ran the offense with 20 assists.

Kirsten Johnson served up six aces, Madigan had three, and Summer Lucks a pair.

“We’re playing good,” Dolan said. “If we can just stay on that path to get a little bit better every week. Because we have a tough schedule.”

Ava Hartshorne had seven kills, Carly Moon had six kills and four digs, and Angelina Falco had seven digs for Titusville.

Warren is set to host Fort LeBoeuf on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
