‘Warren is a Special Place’: Summer Celebration at Lacy Park a Big Hit for Kids and Adults Alike

June 20, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Not even a little rain could dampen the Warren Summer Celebration on Saturday.

Lacy Park was host to an unofficial kickoff to summer, with Corky Fry, owner of Warren Tire Center, playing host

Attendees enjoyed performances from the Zem Zem Hornets, Rick Johnson Martial Arts and Molly Dies’ Dance Unlimited, as well as multiple food vendors.

“This is a family-oriented event,” Fry said. “That’s what I like so much about it.”

There was a rock climbing wall, ‘crazy carts,’ and a bounce house all for the kids, as well as a t-shirt gun that shot out shirts.

The rain came at about 3 p.m., washing out the latter portion of the event, but Lacy Park was rocking for three hours, with the celebration incredibly well-attended by not only patrons but multiple local businesses as well.

There were also several dignitaries present, including City of Warren Mayor Maurice Cashman.

“This has been great,” Cashman said. “It’s nice to see an event like this where lots and lots of people come out and enjoy the whole thing. It makes you really believe Warren is a special place.

“Once you start an event like this, you can keep it going. People come down and they see what this is all about and hope they return to use the park.”

Lacy Park is a special place indeed, with its multi-sensory playground, a project that was spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Warren.

“When you look at where you could put something like this, it (Lacy) made imminent sense,” noted Cashman. “The Rotary Club is the one that got behind this whole project.”
