Warren Grads Rafalski, Grosch Play Pivotal Roles in Mercyhurst’s Doubleheader Sweep of Clarion

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Warren grads Mitch Grosch and Ryan Rafalski had their hands all over Mercyhurst’s doubleheader sweep of Clarion on Monday.

Mercyhurst baseball swept a doubleheader from Clarion on Monday, winning Game 1, 11-10 in 11 innings and Game 2, 13-1.

Grosch delivered the game-winning RBI in Game 1, ripping a double in the 11th inning.

Rafalski, meanwhile, got the win in Game 2, pitching four strong innings, allowing just one unearned run, striking out three, and allowing five hits.

Harbor Creek grad Cody Smith was the Game 1 winner.

Smith pitched a pair of shutout innings to get the win in Game 1 with a strikeout. Grosch finished 2-for-6 in Game 1, while McDowell grad Chris Juchno was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Harbor Creek grad Lucas Folmar was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Daren Byers drove in three runs for Clarion.

Offensively, the Lakers scored seven runs in the fourth inning in Game 2. Folmar was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs, while Juchno was 2-for-5 with an RBI, McDowell grad Luke Jackson 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Grosch 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored.
