WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The California University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team captured the tournament title at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester on Tuesday, marking the program’s first invitational victory since April 2017.

Junior Rachel Wilson (Warren, Pa./Warren) tied for third overall after shooting a 30-over 172 (89-83). Wilson led the team with 15 pars while recording the third top-three finish of her career.
The Vulcans carded the lowest score in each round at the event, including a 63-over-347 on Tuesday, and won the tournament by 11 strokes at 137-over 705 (358-347). The host Golden Rams finished second in the team standings with a 148-over 716 (365-351) and Millersville placed third with a 153-over 721 (363-358). The event featured eight teams, including seven from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and was held at the par-71 Penn Oaks Golf Club.
Sophomore Kate Brown (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) competed as an individual at the event and placed 16th overall with a 46-over 188 (92-96). She birdied the par-three 16th in the opening round.
Millersville senior Hannah Yanoski claimed medalist honors by eight strokes with a 19-over 161 (82-79) after totaling 19 pars at the event.
Cal U returns to action this weekend when it competes at the PSAC Championships in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on April 9-10.
