The Warren boys accumulated the most points with 43, coming in ninth in the team standings in Class 3A, while the Warren girls had 18 team points and were 17th in the girls’ 2A standings.

Today was an awesome day,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “It was extremely hot but we prepared all week for it. We had an incredible amount of season and lifetime bests despite the challenges in the heat. On top of that, we came away with 37 medals in 17 different events. Kids really stepped up today beating their seed positions and going after it. They did exactly as we hoped they would and knew they could. They should be extremely proud of their efforts today.”

The Eisenhower boys, meanwhile, had 10 total points and Youngsville six.

The top place-finisher was Warren’s Graham Carr, who finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:07.16, an event won by McDowell’s Nicolin Pierce. Carr’s teammate, Corbin Reinhard, was eighth with a time of 2:10.07.

Both of Youngsville’s medals came courtesy of Blake Myers. The talented jumper came in fifth in the high jump, continuing the tradition of Youngsville high jumpers that saw Jake Hogg win multiple district and state medals the previous four years. Myers cleared 6-1 in the high jump and was also seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 39-10.
