Warren Drops Back-And-Forth Affair With General McLane

October 2, 2021

EDINBORO, Pa. – In a game that saw four lead changes over the final eight minutes of the game, General McLane earned a 34-31 win over Warren.

The Dragons took a 23-20 lead on Eric Dippold’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Gage Shaffer, but GM responded courtesy of John Amon, who had a monster game, scoring on a 93-yard touchdown run to make it 27-23 GM.

The Dragons took the lead back courtesy of a big play of their own, as Ben White returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.

The Lancers put together a drive to win the game, as Nate Danowski scored on a 1-yard run.

Not wanting to risk another kickoff return, the Lancers squibbed the ensuing kickoff which gave the Dragons a short field to try to retake the lead with three minutes left in the game.

General McLane intercepted a Dippold pass early in the drive to take over possession and was able to run the clock out to secure the win.

Magnus Lloyd scored a pair of first-half touchdowns for GM, one on a run and the other on a 31-yard pass from Amon.

Dippold threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Cayden Wright late in the first half, and Ethan Senz scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter for the Dragons.

Amon had 246 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and 88 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Dippold threw for 163 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Dragons.
