Warren County Special Olympics Celebrates 28th Annual Golf Outing at CVCC

June 28, 2022

WARREN, Pa – It’s been a long road, but the Warren County Special Olympics are starting to get back into the swing of things, as evidenced by their 28th annual golf outing on June 20 at the Conewango Valley Country Club.

Like many, the COVID-19 pandemic hit Special Olympics hard, but things are slowly returning to normal

“We had about 145 golfers, which is really cool,” said Warren County Special Olympics manager Christy Calvert Passinger. “It went really well and it was a beautiful day for golfing. We didn’t have any winter sports. We have different protocols in place, but things are looking up now.”

She noted that golf is going on right now, as well as tennis, with distance running in the fall

At the golf event, the athletes ran the “Olympic torch” in, where it was lit as part of the festivities.

“We had several athletes in attendance that day, and some of them came for lunch and others for dinner,” noted Calvert Passinger.

See the video below:

“We had a really good time,” Calvert Passinger said “We’re thankful for the community support. We also want to thank our grand sponsors, Northwest, United, Kwik Fill and Country Fair”

Calvert Passinger also said that there is a great need for volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to send an email to [email protected].

“I want to thank the board for all of their help,” Calvert Passinger said “We have a really good group of individuals that helped with the golf outing.”
