Warren County Reaches 40 Cases, Surpasses 100 Cases per 100,000 Mark

September 10, 2020

With the three new positive cases announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Health on Wednesday, Sept. 9, Warren County reached 40 cumulative cases of COVID-19.

The three new cases, all confirmed positive, also pushed the county’s cumulative cases per 100,000 over 100 (101.3). Warren had been the lone county in Pennsylvania with a number under 100.

Twelve of the county’s 40, 31 confirmed and nine probable, cases have come in the first days of September, well on its way to surpassing the single monthly total of 14 set in August.

The cumulative case counts include those cases the state considers “recovered.”

A case is considered recovered “if a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered,” according to the Department of Health.

As of Sept. 9, 82 percent of the state’s 141,290 cases are considered recovered.

Based on the state dashboard data, 18 of the 40 cases have been reported in the last 30 days (Aug. 9 or later). The death listed on June 28 remains the single reported COVID death in the county.

Twelve of the confirmed and six probable reside in the 16365 (Warren) ZIP code, with five confirmed in the 16371 (Youngsville) code, according to Department of Health data. Codes with fewer than five cases don’t have specific numbers listed, but each of 16345 (Russell), 16405 (Columbus), 16436 (Spring Creek), 16340 (Pittsfield), 16351 (Tidioute) and 16313 (Clarendon) have at least one confirmed case. Spring Creek and Tidioute also have at least one probable.

A portion of each of the 16434 (Spartansburg, six confirmed), 16354 (Titusville, 23 confirmed) and 16407 (Corry, 49 confirmed and nine probable) codes spill into Warren County as well.
