Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry April Newsletter

April 7, 2021

Springtime is here. Finally.

The cold, rainy, winds of March have blown away those dark nights and gray clouds of winter, making way for the warmth of the sun to finally shine. The promise of new life is on the horizon. More this year than any previous year, the feeling of springtime brings us a chance for renewal, hope, and a fresh start.

The popular saying “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers” can be traced all the way back to the year 1886. The saying itself is a funny thing, and a bit of a moot point. Even if there were no rains in April, annuals would still grow and bloom in May. They might not be abundantly bright and beautiful, but the physical action would still happen. The only authentic place the saying would hold true is in the desert. April showers would literally bring May flowers there.

Still, April is traditionally a rainy period in the spring, which gives way to a brighter May.  Due to the moisture creating a rich soil, the flowers will bloom.  Trees will bud and begin to grow leaves.  The burst of green seemingly appearing overnight.  We shake off the bitterness of winter and turn our faces to the sun. Flower beds boast new progression, climbing and reaching to the sky to kiss the warmth, and then the explosions of colors appear.  The beauty of new growth, new life, and new hope springs forth.

Spring has sprung, Warren County. While it holds a different, bit heavier, feeling this year, carrying the weight of the Coronavirus, WCCBI staff are certain our local businesses will do everything they can to survive, and thrive.
