Warren City Council Receives Update on Comprehensive Plan

March 22, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – Warren City Council received an update on its comprehensive plan during Monday’s regular meeting, and now is ready to take the next step forward.

“We’ve been working for the past six months on the plan,” said Brandi Rosselli with Mackin Engineering, who gave the update. “We’ve been doing our best to get as many people involved as possible. We’re not going to get a laundry list of 100 different things, but rather focus on a manageable list that the city can work on implementing.”

The next step for the city will be to have a pair of work sessions on March 23 and 30, with a second public meeting to be held on May 10.

The plan sets a long-term vision for the city and identifies high-priority recommendations and actions.

So far, a website (warrencitycomprehensiveplan.mystrikingly.com) has been created, and there has been a public meeting, a stakeholder summit, and a public survey.

Results of the public survey, which was taken by 223 residents, saw safety, parks and recreation, walkability, and historic buildings and places listed as the main strengths, with available shopping and retail, access to regional transportation, access to high-speed internet, and job opportunities as the biggest weaknesses.

“There are a lot of committed and dedicated people in Warren,” Rosselli said. “There’s a lot to be proud of and a lot that will be focused on in this comprehensive plan.”

Added Mayor Dave Wortman: “We’re excited to see the final outcome and to be a part of the continuing process. There is a lot of great stuff going on in Warren.”
