OLEAN, NY – Warren Area High School graduate and current Mercyhurst University product Mitchell Grosch was named a New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star for the Olean Oilers.

The Oilers won the Western Division of the NYCBL at 28-14 and finished second in the league, falling to Cortland 2-1 in the Best of Three championship series.

Grosch, an infielder, had a big hand in the Oilers’ success, hitting .389 in the regular season, ranking second in the league, while his OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging Percentage) of 1.090 was third in the league. He also had nine doubles, three triples, and three home runs in his 126 at-bats with 16 RBIs and 16 walks and led the league in hit-by-pitches.

Grosch was summer teammates with his WAHS and Mercyhurst teammate, pitcher Ben Berdine. The duo represents two of four former Dragons who will once again suit up for Mercyhurst this coming season, joining pitcher Ryan Rafalski and catcher Aidan Morrison.
