Visitors Bureau Celebrates Return of Event Planning Party

April 7, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County Visitors Bureau’s Event Planning party is a personal favorite of Dave Sherman’s, so it was only fitting that it was the final event he oversaw as the Bureau’s Executive Director on Wednesday.

Sherman, whose last day as the director is Friday, oversaw the festivities, which were at the Hampton Inn in North Warren and included representatives from 18 different events slated to take place throughout the county in the coming year. The event made its return after a two-year hiatus due to COVID.

“My last day is Friday, and it’s not an accident that this night is tonight rather than next week,” Sherman said.

As part of the event, the WCVB gives away marketing funds, in the form of reimbursement, to each event in attendance. The funds come with two conditions. The money must be spent outside of a 50-mile radius of Warren County, and the event must submit a receipt to the WCVB to receive the reimbursement.

“We want people coming in from outside the county,” Sherman said. “We’re excited to get people here again.”

Typically, each event representative draws to determine whether they will receive $500 or $1,000 in advertising funds. This year, each of the events will receive the full $1,000.

The events represented were the Allegheny Mountain Championship Rodeo, City of Warren Fourth of July Events, Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch Western Front, Jakes Mountain Trail Fest, the Johnny Appleseed Festival, Kinzua Country Tango, Kinzua Heritage Festival, Music in the Park, Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament, Scandia Chainsaw Carve, Sheffield Fireman’s Festival, Warren Christmas Walk, Warren County Fair Rodeo, Warren County Industrial Softball Tournament, Warren County Pride Day, Warren County Winterfest, Wildwind Festival and the Tidioute Reenactment.

Casey Ferry, the incoming Executive Director, was also on hand.

There was also a drawing for a free commercial to be produced by Jay Witosky of Continuum Creative Media.

The Warren Christmas Walk, which was represented by Savannah Casey of the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry, won the free commercial.
