Vandals Damage Legion Field

February 18, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – For the third time in four months, vandals caused extensive damage at a park in Warren County.

Sometime between Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon, an unknown person(s) damaged several areas of Legion Field in North Warren. The field is the home field of the Warren Area High School baseball team and one of the players discovered the damage when they went to the field for a run Saturday.

“Very disappointing to see all of this,” Warren baseball coach Andrew Morrison told Your Daily Local. “This is the second time someone has vandalized the field this winter. Earlier in the winter, someone walked around the outfield fence and cut off all the zip ties on our screen and signs.”

This time, vandals focused most of their energy on the dugout and concession stand near the field. At least one sign was shattered, lights were broken, and the window frame and electrical piping were damaged on the concession stand. Additionally, Morrison said grass seed was spread all over the pitcher’s mound.

“Our players and parents have worked super hard to greatly improve our field and it’s disheartening that some bored individual is ruining that work,” Morrison said.

In addition to the pair of incidents in North Warren, an unknown actor(s) on an ATV damaged a number of areas and structures at Werner Park in Russell in mid-November.

Anyone with information about the incident(s) at Legion Field should contact Conewango Township Police at 814-726-0725.
