WARREN, Pa. – Michael Vanatta and Teagan Paris continue to break barriers.
Vanatta, a senior at Eisenhower High School, and Paris, a Warren Area High School graduate, took firsts at the Beast of the North East Bench/Deadlift/Ironman weightlifting event., with Paris setting a record in the process.
Paris took first place with a deadlift of 335 pounds, a PR, and also an XPS (eXtreme Performance and Strength) record in the process.
Vanatta, meanwhile, also took first place in his division with a 515 deadlift, topping his previous mark of 500.
It was an impressive feat for both, considering both are relatively new to the sport.
