WARREN, Pa. – Here’s a quick look at some of the upcoming events around the community for May 2 – 7, 2023.

MOLLY DIES’ DANCE UNLIMITED RECITAL

Molly Dies’ Dance Unlimited will hit the stage with their annual recital “For The Love Of Dance” held May 2 – 8 at Warren Area High School Auditorium. Continued to be set up differently than in the past the studio will hold 17 smaller shows over a 7-day period, no purchased tickets for entry but a donation at the door.

The “younger dancers” will have just their class showcase the night their class would be held; 4th & 5th graders will have an hour showcase on Friday at 7 p.m.; Middle School & High School dancers will showcase on Saturday at 4 p.m.; and Dance Express Competition Team will showcase their full set on Sunday at 2 p.m. The recital is open to the public and all family and friends of dancers are welcome.

LEGO SOCIAL GROUP

A Lego Social Group meeting will be held every other Wednesday, beginning May 3, from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Warren County YMCA.

The group is open to all ages up to young adults, and participants do not need a YMCA membership to attend. For more information, contact Mandie Englert at 814-706-6142 or email [email protected].

WASU COOLER OF CHEER RAFFLE

The Warren Area Student Union is holding a Cinco de Mayo Cooler of Cheer raffle, and tickets are available now.

The winner will be drawn on Friday, May 5, with the first prize winner receiving an Igloo IMX 24qt cooler filled with assorted liquor, wine, and beer. Second prize is an Ozark Trail 36-can cooler filled with assorted beverages.

Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased by calling 814-730-9540. Must be 21 or older to enter.

WCCS SPRING CRAFT SHOW

Warren County Christian School will hold a spring craft show on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In addition to the vendors, concessions will be available and there will be a silent auction. Admission is free.

CHILDREN’S INTERACTIVE FESTIVAL

Free Books for Kids Town is hosting a Children’s Interactive Festival in downtown Warren on Saturday, May 6 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Hands-on fun includes creating a pine cone bird feeder, face painting, making slime, a Lego creativity center, painting a wooden batmobile, repotting a flower for a Mother’s Day gift, World War II memorabilia, and the WQLN stream machine.

More activities to enjoy are a magic show with John Beard, a giant used book sale, a sweet shoppe, and a card and gift boutique. You can even learn to take your blood pressure and test your knowledge of our country with a citizenship test.

A new addition to the opportunities is free classes in montante sword fighting. Swordmaster Wayne Welburn and his assistant will display the steel swords and demonstrate a mock sword fight with dull blades. Beginning at 11 a.m., kids can sign up for sword classes in age groups of 6 – 8, 9 – 11, and 12 — 14 years, with eight to a group. Sessions will be 30 to 40 minutes per group.
