UNION CITY, Pa. – Union City won five matches by fall on its way to a 42-30 win over Youngsville.
The Eagles got three pins of their own as each contested match was decided by fall. Both teams received a pair of forfeit wins as well and one match (113) was uncontested.
Union City won the first four matches starting with Nick Kaday with a fall over Damon Reese at 189. Nathan Long received a forfeit at 215 and Joe Pituch decked Cody Jesperson at 285. Marcus Irwin followed with a pinfall victory over Allyson Henry at 106 to stake the Bears to a 24-0 lead.
Youngsville got on the board when Mason Henry picked up a forfeit win at 120. Kaden Trip got those points right back for the Bears with a forfeit win at 126.
Logan McDonald picked up the Eagles’ first contested match win with a pin over Daithin Kent at 132.
Zach Beckwith put the Bears on top 36-12 with a pin over Aidan Mancuso at 138.
Collin Clough came right back with a second-period pinfall win over Clay Thomas at 145 and Matt DeSimone decked Owen Kerns in the third period at 152 to keep the Eagles in the match, 36-24.
Kyle Myers sealed the win for Union City when he pinned Michael Crane midway through the second period of their match at 160.
Caden McCune closed out the match with a forfeit win at 170.
The Eagles are right back in action as they host county rival Eisenhower Thursday.
CATHEDRAL PREP 72, WARREN 0
WARREN, Pa. – Cathedral Prep won eight matches by fall and four more by forfeit in a 72-0 win over Warren.
Phillip Stark (132 pounds), Kaemen Smith (138), Clay Mallory (145), Steffan Lynch (152), Kelyn Blossey (160), Owen Shetler (172), John Campbell (215) and Mark Hudson (285) all won by pin.
One match (106) went uncontested.
