No. 8: Katie Madigan Wins D10 Diving Championship

It’s not often that programs just three years removed from not existing are able to boast a championship pedigree.

But that’s exactly what happened with the Warren Diving program when Katie Madigan brought home District 10 gold from the D10 Class 2A Diving Championships in February.

Madigan was one of a group who helped bring diving back to Warren after a multi-year hiatus and has wasted little time leaving her mark on the program.

After finishing third at districts in 2020, Madigan headed to the 2021 championships fresh off setting a school diving record in a virtual meet against McDowell. There wasn’t a clear favorite in the 17-diver field and Madigan dominated the competition.

Madigan finished with a total score of 424.45 to win district gold. Her total was more than 15 points in front of Harbor Creek’s Laynee Mosbacher who was second with 409.10.

Madigan finished fourth in Class 2A girls at the PIAA State Swimming and Diving Championships and was a first-team Region 3 All-Star.
