Taylor’s Treats N’ Eatz Celebrates First Year

June 6, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Though 2020 and early 2021 was filled with uncertainty, it was hard to argue Saturday wasn’t a picture-perfect day for a celebration.

That’s exactly what happened as Taylor’s Treats N’ Eatz celebrated its first “birthday” with a day-long event. The popular ice cream and food parlor has been at its current location of 1530 Market Street for a year and wanted to thank the community for its support during the last year.

“It’s been really successful,” Taylor’s Treats n’ Eatz owner Renee Taylor said. “We have just done amazing things. We’ve had nothing but growth, which is really surprising since we opened in the middle of a pandemic so we weren’t sure what to expect.”

Saturday’s event featured five 2-hour blocks of different entertainment and food specials, plus raffles held throughout the day. While Taylor wasn’t sure what the turnout would be, much like it has throughout the year, the community came out in droves.

“It’s been busy,” Taylor said. “We weren’t sure how many people were going to attend. We had quite a few kids . . . and everybody’s been having a good time.”

The shop started as Taylor’s “side gig,” but quickly expanded into a full-time operation.

“I was a full-time college student so I started with the ice cream truck a couple of years ago,” Taylor said. “I thought it would just be a little side gig and I would go into nursing. But it outgrew the ice cream truck really quick and I wanted to do more than I could do in (the truck). So we decided on a brick and mortar and here we are. This is way bigger than I ever thought it would be, but that’s a good problem to have.”

Thanks to the success over the last year, the shop has big plans in store for Year 2 including a move to the former TJ’s building in Pleasant Township.

“We’re looking forward to our move over to Pleasant Township,” Taylor said. “Once we move we’ll have a larger dining room, we’ll have a huge backyard with more outdoor dining and tables. Nothing but growth and menu growth. We’re looking forward to our customers to just keep coming back.”
