Sugar Grove native participating in SRU Dance Theatre’s Emerging Artists Dance Concert

January 24, 2022

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — A Sugar Grove native will be one of 46 student performers as Slippery Rock University Dance Theatre will begin the spring 2022 semester with the Emerging Artists Dance Concert in the newly renovated Miller Theater, 7:30 p.m., Jan. 28, and 2 p.m., Jan.29.

This artistic showcase includes the work of 46 student performers and choreographers who are part of Dance Theatre, a company within SRU’s Department of Dance. One of those 46 is Grace Larson, a junior dance major from Sugar Grove.

Along with the choreography of junior and senior dance majors, the concert will also contain work from two additional guest artists, Cameron McKinney from New York and Teena Marie Custer from Pittsburgh.

“This concert beautifully highlights SRU’s Department of Dance,” said Lindsay Viatori, associate professor of dance and the department’s artistic director. “The dances presented on this concert were adjudicated by a panel of faculty and guest artists who found this choreography to be the strongest representation of the SRU dance program.”

Tickets for the concert are $15 and are available for purchase at the Smith Student Center information desk, by calling 724-738-4926, or online at sru.universitytickets.com. Face masks are required while inside the Miller Theater.
