October 5, 2022

DUBOIS, Pa. – Kadence Steffan recorded 36 set assists including her 1,000th career set assist to lead Sheffield to a hard-fought, 3-2 (25-14, 17-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-13), victory at DuBois Central Catholic.

Kassidy Orinko led the Lady Wolverines’ offense with 14 kills with Lexi Goldthwaite adding 11 kills, 14 digs, three blocks, and four aces. Emily Foster also had 23 digs, nine kills, and seven blocks in the win.

“Such close scores the last three sets tonight,” Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay said. “It was a back-and-forth battle to the end. I’m so glad the girls were able to dig deep and get the win. It made celebrating Kadence’s accomplishment more special!

“Kadence was able to effectively run the offense tonight, getting the ball to six different hitters,” Lemay added. “She also had four kills tonight. Volleyball is such a team sport, but now and again you have to recognize individual achievements, and we are so proud of her.”

Kayley Risser had 10 kills and two aces for DCC with Lydia Morgan adding eight kills and three aces, Jessy Frank six kills and five aces, and Emma Elensky six kills.
