BREAKING: Spring Creek Man Charged with Homicide, Preliminary Hearing Rescheduled

A Spring Creek man was charged with homicide Tuesday in connection with a Monday shooting in Spring Township.

UPDATE, 9 a.m. April 1: A continuance has been issued for the preliminary hearing. Originally scheduled for April 6, the preliminary hearing has been pushed back to April 16 at 9 a.m.

UPDATE, 9:38 a.m.: A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 at 1 p.m.

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hagger Steven Brewer, Sr., 57, of Spring Creek late Monday night.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. Monday, police were called to 24050 Cold Springs Road for a reported shooting. According to police, troopers arrived to find a “known individual . . . deceased at the scene.” The individual was later identified as Victor Vernon Vantassell III, 57.

According to court records, charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Todd Woodin’s office early Tuesday, Brewer was denied bail and remanded to the Warren County Jail.

Warren County Detectives and the Warren County District Attorney’s Office assisted state police on the scene.

State police say there is “no threat to the community” following this incident and are asking anyone with further information to contact police at 814-728-3600.
