SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Just a sophomore, Sheffield’s Emily Foster will be right at home at the PIAA track and field championships at Shippensburg University.
Foster, the D9 Class 2A high jump champion as a freshman, finished in a tie for second at last week’s championships to punch her return ticket to states.
“We’re thrilled for Emily,” said Sheffield coach Jason Snell after her performance at districts where she cleared 4-10.
Foster is one of three athletes seeded at 4-10, along with fellow D9 competitors Hope Jacob of DuBois Central Catholic and Maeve Hanley of Punxsutawney.
Redbank Valley’s Mylee Harmon, the D9 champion, is one of eight athletes seeded at 5-0.
Towanda’s Porschia Bennett is the top seed at 5-8.
The 2A girls’ high jump is one of the first events to get going from Shippensburg, with the preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and the finals to follow.
