Sheffield Youth, Junior High Wrestlers Have Impressive Showings at Ridgway, Warren

RIDGWAY, Pa. – The Sheffield youth and junior high wrestlers competed in Ridgway this weekend, and the youth wrestlers also competed in Warren with some impressive results.

Zach Mocny took second place for the youth wrestlers at Ridgway, going 3-1. He was able to win two matches by pins. Mocny showed his improvement on his feet by taking his opponents down and to their backs.

Harrison Williams took fourth place, going 0-3. In his first match of the day he battled from behind to tie the match and go into overtime. He gave up a takedown to lose in sudden victory.

Alannah Knapp took third place. She fought hard in both her matches even though she was giving up weight to her opponent. Knapp continues to show improvement on her feet.

Lucas Copley took fifth place. Copley continues to get better with each match he wrestles. He was able to show his escapability by getting out from the bottom in his matches.

Isaiah Cook took second, going 1-1. He was able to win his first match of the day by rolling his opponent to their back to keep scoring points. In his final match, he was able to show improvement on his feet.

Eli Tudor took fifth place in his second tournament ever. Tudor was able to start his day off with an impressive 15-4 win. He was also able to score in all three phases of wrestling. He battled hard in his remaining matches and scored in each of them.

Blake Anderson took second place, going 1-1. Blake started his day off by taking his opponent down and later pinning him. He would lose his final match after battle hard.

JUNIOR HIGH RESULTSĀ 

Michael Knapp took 2nd place going 3-1. Knapp was able to rack up points in each of his matches by taking his opponent down and turning them to their backs.

Kaelon Connelly took third place for the day. She was able to score points in each of her matches. She battled hard through some bumps and bruises to push all of her opponents.

Carter Campbell took first place going 3-0. Carter was able to win one match by pin. In his other two matches, he showed his ability to score no matter where he was on the mat.

Travis Childress took 2nd place going 3-1. Childress was able to win two matches by pin and his last match of the day by tech fall winning 15-0.

Garret Copley took 1st going 3-0. Garrett fought hard to win his first two matches by points. He finished his day winning by pin.

James Wagner took fourth place on the day. Wagner was able to battle hard through all of his matches. He was able to finish the day scoring points and falling short of the win in his final match.

Sunday – Warren Open

Elijah Waterhouse took third place in his first-ever tournament. He finished each match with a smile and wrestled hard for the first time in a real match.

Mocny took first place, going 3-0 on the day. He was able to win all three of his matches by pinning his opponent.

Williams took second place, going 4-1. He lost his first match of the day by a score of 4-1. He was able to bounce back and rally for four straight wins, two of which came by pin.

Copley took first place, going 4-0. He was able to bounce back from Saturday recording three pins on the day. He fought hard and was able to win a close match to seal the first-place trophy.

Triton Ringer took third place, going 1-2. Ringer was able to battle hard in his win of the day. With the score tied 5-5 the match went into a 30-second ride out overtime. Triton was able to keep his opponent down and win.

Logan DeVault took third place, going 1-2. He was able to put on a points clinic in his first match of the day by scoring from neutral, top, and bottom.

Isaiah Cook took third place, going 1-2. Isaiah continues to show improvement on his feet. He has been getting takedowns and back points in more matches than ever.

Emmett Snyder took fourth place on the day. He battled hard and finished the day with a big win

Alannah Knapp took third place. She was able to battle hard against an opponent she has wrestled many times. She came up on the short end, but put up her best performance against him this year.

Alex Haight took second place, going 3-1. Haight lost his first match of the day by a score of 2-1. He battled back winning all three of his remaining matches.

Lucas Sorensen took sixth place. He was able to fight hard never giving up a pin. He was able to score from the bottom and just fell short by a few points in his hard-fought matches.

Childress took second place, going 2-1. He was able to finish the day by winning his final two matches.

Garrett Copley took second, going 2-1 on the day. He had a hard-fought loss in his first match losing 4-2. He came back to win his final took matches of the day.
