Sheffield Boys Top Eisenhower In County Clash

January 29, 2021

LANDER, Pa. – Short-handed Eisenhower gave Sheffield all it could handle for three quarters, but it was the visiting Wolverines who pulled way in the fourth quarter for a 63-43 victory on Thursday at Eisenhower High School.

Sheffield led 25-19 at halftime and extended its lead to 10, but it was Eisenhower’s Kael Hunt that kept the Knights within striking distance. Hunt scored eight-straight points in the third, including a pair of 3’s.

The Wolverines were still able to extend the lead to 10, 41-31, after three quarters thanks to a Connor Johnson triple late in the period.

Connor Finch and Tyler Hepinger both came up big in the second half to help the Wolverines (3-1) pull away.

Re-watch the game:

Finch scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half and Hepinger 11 of his 16 in the fourth quarter.

Kris Bunk had six of his 10 points in the fourth quarter for the Knights.

The game was back-and-forth early on, as Wyatt Lookenhouse and Kyler Black helped Eisenhower knot the score at 12.

The Wolverines followed that with a 13-3 run led by Tony Richards, who scored seven of his 15 points in the second quarter.

Richards talked about the win afterward:

The 10-point lead was cut to six, 25-19, at halftime, thanks to a pair of late buckets by Bunk.

Hunt finished with a team-high 17 points for Eisenhower (2-5).

Sheffield hosts county rival Youngsville Monday for Senior Night, while Eisenhower hosts Union City Tuesday.
