Sheffield Boys Split Tri-Meet at Cameron County, Girls Swept

EMPORIUM, Pa. – In the first outing of the season, the Sheffield boys’ track team earned a split in a tri-meet with Coudersport at Cameron County Tuesday.

The Wolverines were 92-26 winners over Cameron County but fell to Coudersport, 89-36. The girls were swept as they suffered a 95-43 loss to Cameron County and a 100-33 setback to Coudersport.

Emily Leichtenberger was a double winner in the javelin with a throw of 102’ 4”. Emily Foster was a double winner in the high jump with a height of 4’7”. The freshman just missed qualifying for districts on her last jump as she hit the bar with her ankles.

On the boys’ side, Lucas McNeal was a double winner in the high jump with a height of 5’ 6”. Garret Waters swept the 110 Hurdles, as did teammate Isiah Valentin in the 300 hurdles. Sheffield’s 4 x 100 relay team of Landon Mead, Valentin, Waters, and McNeal won the race with a time of 48.05 seconds, just above the time of 47.6 for district qualifying.
