Severe Thunderstorm Warning; Tornado Watch Issued for Warren County Thursday, June 16

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The National Weather Service in State College has issued both a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and a Tornado Watch for Warren County for Thursday, June 16.

The Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 4 p.m. The Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 p.m.

According to the NWS, “severe thunderstorms were located along the I-90 ridgeline northwest of Warren County, moving east at 35 mph.”

These storms could bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph. The NWS anticipates the potential for damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” the alert said. “Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant property damage.”
