Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Ground Turkey

April 14, 2021

WASHINGTON – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has linked four different types of ground turkey products to a salmonella outbreak that has affected people in 12 different states, including Pennsylvania.

The four products thus far linked to the outbreak were made between Dec. 18-29, 2020, and distributed nationally. So far, at least 28 people in 12 states have been affected, with two of those requiring hospitalization.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Services issued a public health alert about the products on April 10. No recall was issued because it is believed the products, manufactured by Plainville Brands, LLC out of Pennsylvania, are no longer available for public purchase. The following products are subject to the public health alert:

  • 1-lb. packages of Nature’s Promise Free from 94% LEAN | 6% FAT Ground Turkey with Use by/freeze/sell-by date of 1/1/21, 1/3/21,1/4/21, 1/8/21 and 1/10/21 on the front of the package.
