Ronald Blum

Ronald Lee Blum, 73, of Sheffield, PA passed away Monday morning, March 29, 2021 at his home with his faithful, loving family by his side.

Ron was born September 23, 1947 in Guitonville, PA to the late Walter L. Blum and Dorothy M. (Whitton) Blum.  He attended Sheffield High School.  Ron was a humble man with a very strong work ethic.  He was highly involved in the Sheffield community.  He was involved for many years with the Boy Scout Troop 35 as well as very active with the Sheffield Community Thanksgiving dinners.  Ron loved trucking and bought his first truck in 1974.

He was an independent truck driver establishing R. L. Blum & Son Trucking of Sheffield. Throughout his career, he hauled locally for Crossett, W.H. Fitzgerald, and DEW Trucking among others. Ron was awarded many safety awards one of which was the Caterpillar million mile award.  Over his driving career he logged over 4 million miles.  Ron liked to relax by going to a good fishing spot.

Left behind to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife Patricia Schrader Blum at home who he married on November 8, 1975, one son, Frank and his wife Sandy Blum of Sheffield and a brother Kenneth Blum also of Sheffield.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Bethany, Kimberly, Stuart, Kathryn (Bug) and Crystal as well as seven great grandchildren.  Ron is further survived by his faithful fur companions Missy and Herbie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron’s family will welcome family and friends on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the retired Reverend Terry Hurlbut officiating.  Burial will take place at the Sheffield Cemetery.
