Richard A. Cook Jr.

Richard A. Cook Jr., 65, of Warren, passed away on January 15, 2021 at the Warren General Hospital, following a short illness.

Richard was born July 11, 1955, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Richard A. and Barbara Reist Cook Sr. He was a 1973 graduate of the Warren Area High School Vo-Tech Program and was employed with Crosset Inc. in Warren as a parts manager for over 30 years.

Richard has had a longtime passion for racing which started the night his mother went into labor with him at the racetrack. His racing career included working with many local race car drivers including Ron Davies, Ron Stanko, and Jon Hedman. Richard worked for a short time in the midwest building and selling race car chassis with Tri-City Buggy. His racing innovations earned him an article he wrote being published in stock car magazine. I

n addition Richard loved camping with his family, his dog companions and quiet time at home.

Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Stevenson Cook, whom he married in 1977; a daughter, Katie V. LaBarr and husband Jason, of Warren, a sister, Karen Cook of Warren; four grandchildren, Tyler Heubach, Rebecca, Molly, and Allison Thayer; on great-granddaughter, Haven Heubach; nieces Amber Burke, Mayan Cook Heidi Swanson and nephew Nick Swanson; and his brother-in-law, Dave Stevenson and his wife Shannon of Scandia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his uncle Bob Reist and wife Sarah.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the for Shriner’s Hospital for Children 1645 W. Eighth St. Erie, PA 16505, or to the Warren County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 752, Warren, PA. 16365.
