RUSSELL, Pa. – State police released the name of the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday morning on Route 62 in Russell.
According to PSP-Warren, Bryan C. Steele, 40 of Warren, was walking down the center of the roadway just south of S. Main Street at approximately 6:45 a.m. when he was struck by a 2009 Toyota Highlander driven by Lawrence M. Miller, 64 of Russell.
Police said Miller was driving south when he struck Steele with the left front of his vehicle. Steele was thrown into the air and landed in the roadway, according to police, and Miller pulled onto the southbound shoulder.
Steele was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident caused Route 62 to be closed in both directions for at least two hours.
The Warren County Coroner’s Office, Russell VFD, Conewango Township Police, and Koebley’s Towing assisted PSP on the scene.
