Pamela Ann Swanson

July 26, 2021

Pamela Ann Swanson, 77, of Warren, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Warren General Hospital, following a lengthy battle with illness.

Pam was born November 7, 1943, in Kane PA, the daughter of the late Eugene T. and Ellen A Osbeck Conn. She was a 1961 graduate of the Kane High School, and later a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in elementary education.

She and her husband, James A. Swanson, who survives, and whom she married on May 7, 1965, came to Warren in 1971. Pamela was employed with the Warren County School District as a Teacher’s Aide for several years.

Pam was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her 20’s and fought a long and courageous battle with her loving family at her side. She was a dedicated and longtime member of the First Lutheran Church of Warren, where she was a part of the Senior Fellowship. Pam was small in stature, known affectionately by the three eldest grandchildren as “Little Grandma”, but had a huge heart and was as tough as anyone. She handled her disease with class and dignity and never complained about her situation, even as she was constrained by a wheelchair in her later years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, with a broad smile and kind word for everyone. She rarely missed a game, concert, scout meeting or any other extracurricular activity in which her children or grandchildren participated. Win or lose, she always was there at the end of any event with a hug and encouraging word, and most importantly, usually a trip to the Dairy Queen.

She was dearly loved and her loss leaves a hole in her whole family, but they will forever cherish their fond memories of her. Pam, in addition to her husband, is survived by two children, Lori Eaton and husband Rick of Warren, PA; and Michael Swanson and wife Gina of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Beth Conn of Mt. Jewett, PA; six grandchildren, Jessica White and husband Tyrell, Jeff Eaton, Jaimie Eaton, Alexander Swanson, Charlotte Swanson, and Jonathan Swanson; and four great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Jason, Jackson, and Tyson White.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren on Wednesday, July 28, from 6 until 8 pm, and also at the First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, on Thursday, July 29, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held at 11 am, with The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, officiating. Interment will be private at the McKean Memorial Park.
