Martha “Marty” Schruise Mong

March 14, 2022

Martha “Marty” Schruise Mong, 83, of Warren, Pa., died March 5, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on Nov. 30, 1938, to Garrett and Henrietta Card Schruise.

She graduated from Panama Central High School in 1957. She married Harry Wade Mong on Aug. 30, 1958, in Panama N.Y.

She is survived by three children: Susan, Harold, and Kim (companion, Doug James).

She retired from Servomation Vending services and spent many years working beside her husband with their rental business and his plumbing/heating business. Together they spent many weekends with their kids camping/boating on the Kinzua reservoir and snowmobiling in the winter. They lived in the community of Hemlock on the Allegheny River and spent many hours enjoying the activities on the river. Anytime Mom was out with one of her kids, and someone said, “wow you have a great daughter/son,” Mom would always correct them and say, “I have three great kids.”

The Riverside Drive community will miss Mom out on her lawnmower. She was so proud that at 80, she had bought a new mower, because she had worn out the old one. She is now with Dad, and they are either square dancing, polka dancing, or on the swing looking over a heavenly river. You did good Mom.

She is survived by her three kids; her brother, Robert (Bonnie) Schruise, Ransomville, N.Y.; her sister: Sandra (Howard) Pitt Jr, Zephyrhills, Fla.; and her sister-in-law, Roberta (John) Schruise of Panama, N.Y.

She was also a caregiver to many family members for several years, especially her mother-in-law, Grace Mong; and her brother-in-law George Mong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry on Oct. 5, 2005; and her brother, John Schruise.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, March 13, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St., Warren, Pa.

Those wishing to place memorials may do so through the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren PA 16365 or Glade Township Volunteer Fire Department, 14 Hohman Road, Warren PA 16365 or to the YMCA, 212 Lexington Ave., Warren PA 16365.
