Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Lehnen was recognized by the Warren County Commissioners on Wednesday with a Citation of Excellence for de-escalating a standoff that resulted from a domestic disturbance.

“Lehnen gained access to the residence, established rapport with the defendant and talked him down without incident,” the citation said. “Lehnen’s calm demeanor and ability to build rapport with a distraught individual demonstrates extreme competence. His willigness to put himself in harm’s way is commendable.”

Added Commissioner Jeff Eggleston: “Deputy Lehnen is very patient and kind. He’s certainly one of the best.”
