Madigan, Sitler Climb Record Books in Warren Volleyball Finale with Conneaut

October 30, 2020

WARREN, Pa. – Katie Madigan and Jordan Sitler continued to climb the record books, but Conneaut showed why it is one of the top teams in District 10 Thursday with a 3-1 win at Warren.

The Eagles were dominant early, but the Dragons battled the rest of the way before Conneaut was able to secure a 25-11, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-18 victory.

“We played so many close games against some of the best teams around but just struggled to close them out,” Warren coach Mike Dolan said. “Tonight we got off to a slow start, playing a little tentative in that first game. Once they realized they could play with Conneaut, we more than held our own.”

The match marked the final time four seniors, Olivia English, Meredith Morrison, Sitler and Hannah Shattuck, would don a Warren volleyball uniform. This group has been part of Warren volleyball history as they were sophomores when the Dragons won their first District 10 title and reached the PIAA State Championship match in 2018.

“All four have been such a big part of all the success the team has since they arrived on the team,” Dolan said. “It will be hard to replace their leadership and stellar play.”

Sitler finished with 10 kills and three blocks. She ends her career with 670 kills, good for third on the Dragons career kills list. The Pitt-Bradford commit also passed the 100 block plateau for her career (102).

Shattuck had five kills and five digs, while English added four kills and two digs. Morrison had a dig and a pair of aces.

Carly Beers had six kills and six digs and Kylie Fehlman had three kills, three digs and four blocks. Halee Mineweaser ran the offense with 23 assists and added eight digs and a pair of blocks.

“Carly, Hannah, Olivia, and Kylie all had some nice swings and played well at the net with tough blocking as well,” Dolan said. “And Meredith’s tough serving and defense were key as well.”

Junior Katie Madigan’s 22 digs on the night moved her past Ellie Lobdell and into the top spot on the Dragons career digs list. With her senior season to go, Madigan now has 904 career digs.

Warren won the junior varsity contest, 25-17, 11-25 and 15-11

Fehlman had eight kills, three aces and two blocks. Kirsten Johnson had seven kills and two blocks, while Summer Lucks had nine digs. Lauren Dolan added 21 assists.
